Kenroku-En is best in the early morning.

Time passes with tranquility

Kenroku-En is one of the must see spots in Kanazawa. The vast garden is spotted with mounds, rocks, ponds, and teahouses, each with unique beauty in all four seasons. Yukitsuri bamboo hanging ropes, to protect tree branches from the weight of snow, are a typical winter sight Kanazawa. The garden is vividly lit up in the evenings. Early morning visiting is especially recommended as their is no entrance fee at that time.

Early morning entrance is free.

Enjoy a tranquil alternate, non-sightseeing, facet of the garden.

Kenroku-En entrance is free in the early morning. From now until the end of next February, entrance is free between 6 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Entrance only from the Hasuike and Sakaguchi gates. It is not recommended simply because entrance is free. During the day, Kenroku-En can become overwhelmed with tourists but during the early morning hours a quiet dignified tranquility can be enjoyed. Enjoy a peaceful stroll in the garden while taking in the sounds of the leaves rustling in the wind, the chatter of water flowing, and the music of the birds.

It is surely a time to appreciate the history of the garden and purify your spirit.
